Lobster Traps, Barrels and Boat-Trinity, Newfoundland Newfoundland is an amazing place, home to the friendliest people I’ve met. It is practically off the map for many people and has a long and deep heritage of fishing and hardship in a hostile climate. Wandering the wharfs of the small, beautiful and colorful town of Trinity on the Bonaventure Peninsula, I came across this quiet scene. The composition needed some improvement over what already existed so Ieaned a trap on the others and positioned the barrels strategically. The boat did its own thing. After processing in Lightroom 3, I took it into the Nik Color Efex 3 plug-in and worked with the Brilliance/Warmth filter to warm up the scene and put some non-existent sunset color into the water and the foreground elements. The Tonal Contrast filter added texture. I finished it off in Nik’s Viveza, toning down and bringing up elements
What was your vision for your finished image?
To tell a story of the fishing heritage in this wonderful corner of the world, to express a quiet and peaceful mood and to bring together the composition in a warmer, less contrasty light than existed.
